POCCUO

About Us

Everyone has a story to tell. A message to convey. An audience to capture.

At Poccuo, we believe that effective communication begins with strategy. And strategy is never an accident. We work with art, education, and culture-based clients to re-imagine the way they communicate with the world. Design, writing, and research for identity, web, and print — you have a story and we can help you tell it.

So what’s your story? That’s what we’d like to find out.

Who We Are

Title

Mason Kessinger

“Anything can be better.” These words come verbatim from the mouth of Mason. Specializing in strategy, design, and development for interactive projects, Mason is Poccuo’s version of “Find/Replace”: He finds potential in our clients’ projects, and he replaces that potential with results. As a designer at Chicago's 50,000feet — where he and Phil fatefully crossed paths — he teamed up with clients such as New Leaf Theatre, PropPoint, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Himself an Illinois alum, Mason holds a degree in graphic design and a soft spot for the emerging horizons of new media and interactive, multi-genre projects.

Title

Chris Maier

Embracing a hankering for strategy, Chris assists Poccuo’s clients from the initial conceptual stages through to the end product. He’s a listener, a responder, and ultimately a results-getter. He’s also Poccuo’s copy czar, exercising his fondness for the written word in all matters textual and editorial. Chris has lived on both American coasts and in its belly, picking up degrees from Dickinson College and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign along the way. Prior to joining forces with Poccuo, he sharpened his communications skills as an editor, journalist, university lecturer, and copywriter for clients including the Princeton Review and Dickinson College.

Title

Phillip Zelnar

One person can’t do it all? Don’t say that to Phil, who handles strategy and design direction for all the projects that come through Poccuo’s door. In his past life as a senior designer at Chicago’s 50,000feet, he teamed up with clients like BMW, MINI, Motorola, and IntercontinentalExchange, helping each to establish and refine identity systems and produce print and interactive materials to match. Phil studied graphic design at the University of Akron’s Myers School of Art. Whether it’s teaching a class, experimenting on a letterpress, serving as an AIGA committee member, or collaborating with a client, Phil’s always got design on his mind.

Title

Kimberly Zingale

Few things are guaranteed in this world, but one thing you can bank on is that all of Poccuo’s print projects spend some serious time on Kim’s desk. With an eye for image and text, Kim provides direction and design for all things print. In her pre-Poccuo days, Kim served as a designer at advertising/marketing powerhouse Ambrosi, where her knack for packaging and identity solutions energized Fortune 100 clients. Next came a senior design position at Chicago’s Newberry Library, where Kim guided the institution’s re-branding initiative. These days she divides her time between Poccuo and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where she’s a senior designer.
